What is an Entrepreneur?
What is an entrepreneur? Who is he or she in our country? Are you an entrepreneur yourself? What are the qualities that makes a person good entrepreneur?
Entrepreneurs are of different breed. They belong to a different class of people. They seem to stand out from the crowd. And they walk and talk differently from non-entrepreneurs.
I’ve read a research done by the UP Institute of Small Scale Industries that draws a profile of the entrepreneurial class. Based on the study, researchers and scholars have answered the question by studying the entrepreneur himself/herself. As a result, certain predominant traits, characteristics, needs or drives distinguish him or her from the non-entrepreneur.
“Studies reveal that Asian entrepreneurs are self-confident. They are optimistic; they believe in the possibility of change or mastery of the environment, through themselves.”
“Entrepreneurs are flexible and receptive to change. They prefer independent work where individuality shows. They are dynamic leaders wherever they go, in whatever they do”
“Entrepreneurs are creative, innovative and versatile. They are not only knowledgeable in their field of interest, but on general matters as well. They accomplish things through initiative and resourcefulness.”
“Problems are seen by entrepreneurs as challenges. They like to take risks after they have calculated the chances for success. Moderate risks appear to them.”
“Entrepreneurs, almost invariably, display a concern for excellence and the spirit to excel in competitions. They also exhibit a specific attitude towards work, such as persistence, perseverance, determination, drive, and high level of energy.”
“A significant number of entrepreneurs have had exposure to the specific line of business activity where they are personally engaged in.”
Having read what an entrepreneur is, do you possess the qualities, traits, characteristics and habits of a good entrepreneur? I think we should start thinking about entrepreneurship. A lot of successful countries are developed by small and medium enterprises ran by successful entrepreneurs.
Lastly, I would like to refer to you to one of the posts that displayed an entrepreneur as an innovator.

I’m a small-time entrepreneur as of this date but who knows I may own a big firm someday!

That definition exactly describes a guy I know who has already flipped a website for big $$$ and is about to do it again. He is expert and focused, and he also has a broad knowledge that helps him all around. As for me, I love working independently on “my own thing,” but I think that problems cropping up would worry me if that was my only source of income.

Entrepreneurs are people who have set high standards for themselves and are willing to commit their action into meeting those standards. Some characteristics of an entrepreneur are as follows:
1. Taking calculated risks
2. Courageous
3. Determined
4. Optimistic
5. An acute sense for business
The first 4 characteristics are common amongst all successful people. The great thing about entrepreneurs are in addition that, they usually are able to to monetise what they possess in themselves and their work, creating lasting income flow to themselves even when they are asleep.
