During your “single years”, you have plenty of time to enjoy the things that you want in life. However, as soon as you grow older and decided to change your status from single to married, you will have more and more responsibilities.
When you get your own home, you will be exposed to a lot of expenses. These expenses can eat a huge percentage of your savings. However, there are some things that you can do to help reduce your expenses. Here are some of the general frugal tips you can do to save more money when you already have your own family.

Change is Good. Spare coins from your pockets and scattered elsewhere can be placed in the kitchen to buy things such as vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, oil, etc.
Switch Off When Not in Use. Switching off either water from faucet or electrical appliances when not in use can save you a lot money. Do not keep water running when you’re brushing your teeth. When you leave your room, don’t forget to turn off the lights.
Do the Laundy in Batches. Don’t wash your clothes everyday. It will consume a lot of water thereby increasing your water bills. Do the laundry by batches, when there is enough amount of clothes that needs to be washed.
Reduce by Reusing. Instead of buying ready to use garbage bags from the supermarket or department store, reuse grocery bags as your trash bags. You can also reuse waters accumulated during rains to water the plants or to wash your car. Be cautious though as this accumulated water can be a breeding ground for hamrful mosquitoes.
Combine Postpaid and Prepaid. There are a lot of utility bills at home. Combining postpaid and prepaid means of payment whenever is possible is one way to reduce expenses and save money. You can keep track of postpaid bills such as electric and water bills at the end of every month. However, for prepaid bills such as landline telephone bills and mobile phone bills, you will know how much they’re going to cost before you even spend so you don’t get surprised at the end of the month.
