December 2008 Networth (+3.97%)
Today is the last stock trading day here in the Philippines since there will be a long vacation in celebration of Christmas and New Year from December 25 to January 4.
This is also the time that I will update my networth for the month of December. I’ve been monitoring my stock trading portfolio from time to time and definitely it is a bear market with market value turnover of less than a million. I invested at the wrong time.
Since this will be my second update, the basis of comparison would be the November networth.
ASSETS (+3.97%)
Cash (+5.73%) - I saved 51.5% of my gross salary for the month of December. Aside from it, I already received my medical allowance reimbursement and christmas cash gift from our company. The interests of my savings accounts also helped.
Investments
- I am invested heavily on the stock market, both directly and indirectly thru equity funds of UITFs and Mutual Funds. With the current global financial crisis, the stock market is really battered as more and more bad news unveil. As of this writing, Asian stocks fell again for the fourth straight day as news on the latest collapse in US house prices and a slump in confidence among Japanese manufacturers stoked concern that recession in US is deepening.
Unit Investment Trust Fund:
BPI Equity Fund (-4.9%) - BPI Equity Fund suffered another loss than my previous November loss of 29.5% bringing to a total investment loss relative to the original principal of 33.98%.
Metro Equity Fund (-4.02%) - Metro Equity Fund suffered another loss than my previous November loss of 40.9% bringing to a total investment loss relative to the original principal of 43.27%.
Mutual Fund:
Sunlife Equity Fund (-7.3%) - Sunlife Equity Fund now suffered a loss from a previous gain in November of 0.52%.
Direct Stock Investments:
Stock Investments (-1.4%) - Stock investments suffered another 1.4% of decline in values bringing a total loss of 56% relative to its original principal amount.
LIABILITIES:
I don’t have liabilities. My credit card balance will just be fully off set because of the full refund of the airplane fare of the cancelled Macau Trip last November. In fact, it was to my advantage because of the increase in the exchange rate.
All in all, my december networth went up by 3.97% compared to my November networth mainly because of the increase in cash due to my savings.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!
