I listened to the audio version of The Millionaire Next door about a year ago and it really has influenced me to be more practical and frugal, and it even influenced me on how I bought my car. No more keeping up with the Joneses as the truly affluent do not flaunt their wealth. And about economic outpatient care, I notice most Filipinos are really like that to their children which is why a lot just bum around. by the way, congrats for being featured in PMT!

The Millionaire Next Door is a great read. It’s certainly helped me keep motivated and on course since I first read it over a decade ago. There’s a follow up book (The Millionaire Mind) which probably does not add much to the original book.

The only part of the book which I have some issues with is the formula. It works best for people who have been in steady employment for a while. It does not work well for people who are just starting out (e.g. college grads) or people whose income has just increased or decreased a lot (e.g. the newly promoted).

Excellent review.
